Hi this is Betsy from Otto’s. If your taste in reading leans toward the adventurous, you might want to try Spooner by offbeat newsman-turned-columnist, Pete Dexter. I suspect it’s a fictionalized memoir of his own life. Spooner is a social misfit, to put it mildly. The only thing he’s got going for him is his stepfather who has had a loose screw loose off and on in his own life, so he understands. How Spooner perilously escapes adolescence and falls into writing for a newspaper and thence to a job as a syndicated columnist is the bare bones of the plot which is filled with hilarious, quirky adventures. You’ve got to love them—Spooner and his stepfather, stumbling through life, bound together by a determination to finally get something right. Check out our new and expanded website, for a reader’s review and while you’re in there you might notice we now have listings for three and a half millionbooks which you can order from us directly off the website, even at three in the morning! We’re Otto’s, 'a booklover’s paradise in the heart of downtown Williamsport '(and on the internet).
