August First Friday: July 30 - Aug 5, 2011

For the fans who can’t get enough Penn State, we have The Great Book of Penn State Sports Lists –the last word on everything PSU.  Matthew and David Pencek, both sports writers and alumni, will be at Otto’s First Friday to sign their book.  Carolyn Perry who wrote For Better, For Worse, an account of her ordeal in New Orleans during Katrina, will also be signing.  She and her husband, who was suffering with cancer, were marooned in Memorial Hospital—a hospital with no power, no running water and no way out.  When helicopters came to evacuate the patients, they wouldn’t allow Carolyn to accompany her husband because she wasn’t a patient.  Devastated, she tried the stairs, fell, and hurt herself enough to become a patient who was also life-flighted.   She and her husband were retired Lock Haven faculty members and she has now returned to their home in New Orleans.  And, finally we are having Joan Blank with her new book, Around Montgomery Borough, 1940-1990, the story of the little town that bounced back… again and again.  All four will be there from 5 to 8 Friday at Otto’s, a booklover’s paradise in the heart of Downtown Williamsport.
