About the Authors
David L. Richards
Born and raised in the Muncy Valley. David resided in Picture Rocks for over 17 years before moving to Muncy in 1974. That year he also graduated from Hughsville High School and joined the workforce. After taking a few years to travel in search of historic sites, Mr. Richards graduated from Lycoming College (B.A. History, 1985). Soon after, David moved to Gettysburg, where he has served for over 30 years as a licensed battlefield guide at Gettysburg National Military Park. He resides today near the battlefield with his wife Teresa and their two cats. A life long interest in the Muncy Valley and a lifetime of collectiong books, photographs, postcards, and ephemera led to this book, "From a Bygone Era" - his second collaboration with Matt Stackhouse.
Matthew B. Stackhouse
Matthew was born and raised in Shewsbury Township, about two miles from Essick Heights. He graduated from Hughesville High School in 2000 and from Lycoming College in 2004 (B.A. History). An outstanding collegiate basketball player, Mr. Stackhouse was a three time all conference team selection and in 2015 was inducted into the Lycoming College Athletic Hall of Fame. Matthew has lived throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and currently resides in Chambersburg. He has a passionate interest for the past and enjoys visiting areas of historical importance and collecting various items with local signifigance. Matthew also likes displaying his collection of postcards and other antiques with ties to the east Lycoming and Sullivan County vicinity.
