Christmas books: Dec 3 – 9, 2011

Hi this is Betsy from Otto’s.  I read two very different Christmas books this year.  Anne Perry’s A Christmas Homecoming is a mystery set in a lonely hilltop mansion in Victorian England.  An acting troupe has agreed to produce a play written by the daughter of their backer for his Christmas guests.  A severe winter storm (and a murder) make things difficult, to say the least.  A Plain and Fancy Christmas by Cynthia Keller, begins in the spring, when an ailing nurse wants to set to rights a mistake her physician husband made twenty some years ago when he sent two babies home from the hospital with the wrong parents.  Both girls were named Rachel but one came from a wealthy New York family and the other from a Lancaster County Amish couple.  When the two Rachels receive the letter from the nurse, one wants to bury it and the other just wants to “see” her birth family.  By fall both have sampled the life they would have lived and Christmas brings both families together with the best of both worlds. Come get in the spirit at Otto’s, a Christmas lover’s paradise in the heart of Downtown Williamsport.
