EDGAR'S SECOND WORD is for big-sisters-in-waiting

Hazel is sooooo excited! She's going to be a big sister. She waits patiently, but when he finally arrives, Edgar's not much different from her bunny Rodrigo, or a pillow, or a watermelon. So, Hazel waits some more; reading and playing with him as she waits for him to talk. Then, finally, he utters his first word, "NO!" "NO!" "NO!" It seems no matter what she suggests, or where they go, 'No!" is the only thing Edgar has to say. In the library, on a picnic, in the bath, "No! No! No!" is all he can say until we reach the surprising, satisfying, sweet ending. I won't spoil it for you, but if you know a loving big sister who is patiently waiting for that baby brother to grow up and play with her, ahare EDGAR'S SECOND WORD by Audrey Vernick, with illustrations by Priscilla Burris. It'll warm your heart and put a smile on your face.
