June First Friday: 5/30/2015

Hi this is Betsy from Otto’s.  When Seamus McGraw was here last, he was signing his first book, End of Country, Dispatches from the Frack Zone.   In that book, he gathered reactions of those who were either pro or con concerning the gas companies’ hydraulic fracking for natural gas.  Now he turns his reporter’s eye to the broader picture of “climate change.”  He has traveled across the country to interview people most affected by the weather and how they are adapting to it.  This Friday, he will be signing his new book, Betting the Farm on a Drought: Stories from the Frontline of Climate Change.  Doctor T. W. Shoemaker will also be signing his new book—The Satterfield Flyer: Adventures of a Country Veterinarian and Newspaper Editor in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania.  It’s a laid back account of his life and his friends in rural Pennsylvania before fracking, cell phones and the Internet.  Come join us First Friday from 5 to 8 PM at Otto’s, a booklover’s paradise in the heart of Downtown Williamsport.
