Long Upon the Land: 9/7/15

Hi this is Betsy from Otto's. Ready for a good mystery? Long Upon the Land is a multi generation novel where the two attempting to solve the mystery are a judge and her husband, the sheriff. The judge is the daughter of a known bootlegger who has given up his illegal profession, or has he? A dead body is found on his land—on a portion of it that the dead man had claimed as rightfully his. Was the murder provoked by the land dispute? Many people hated the dead man—could one of them been pushed too far? And what did the inscription on a pocket lighter given to her mother by a man named Mac mean? And why did her mother say Mac had changed her life? Mysteries over several generations abound and how many of them have a bearing on the present murder mystery? The local newspaper is implying the judge and the sheriff are in cahoots to drag their heels on solving the crime because their own family might be implicated. Mostly likable characters...a setting in the North Carolina low country and a skillfully crafted plot that will keep you guessing until the very last word. Long Upon the Land –you'll find it at Otto's, a booklover's paradise in the heart of downtown Williamsport.
