Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennesy: 5/2/2015

As a little girl, Queenie learned to ballroom dance while standing on her Daddy’s feet.  When she was working at the brewery, she saw a co-worker, Harold Fry, dancing with his shadow when he thought nobody was looking.  She was in love.

Hi, this is Betsy from Otto’s here to tell you about the new book, The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennesy by Rachel Joyce.  It’s about ordinary people caught up in an extraordinary love.  He was married.  She was single.  She never told him of her love but they shared a job that required them to spend a lot of time alone together—time that was exquisitely painful for Queenie—so painful that Queenie had to quit her job and move far away.  Now she’s facing death in a hospice and she’s writing her last letter to Harold confessing her love and the mistakes she made.  Sound sad?  Not really—more uplifting, even humorous, ultimately hopeful.  It would make a wonderful gift for Mother’s Day.  The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennesey—you’ll find it at Otto’s, a booklover’s paradise in the heart of Downtown Williamsport.
