What began life in 1923 as a pleasure park in Buchanan, New York, Indian Point transformed into a three-reactor electric generating facility that provided up to 25 percent of the power required by Westchester County and New York City for 59 years. From the start of construction in 1956, thousands left a legacy through their hard work and dedication and developed Indian Point into a world record holder for continuous power operation by a nuclear generating unit. Indian Point forever changed this small village on the banks of the Hudson River and the livelihoods of thousands living in the Hudson Valley.
