About the Author

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, best known by his pen name, Lewis Carroll, was born in the village of Daresbury, in England in 1832. The eldest boy of 11 children, Carroll excelled in mathematics and won many prizes. At age 20, he was awarded a place at Christ Church College, Oxford University. An accomplished Victorian he was a lecturer in mathematics, a photographer, an essayist, pamphleteer and poet.

Charlie Lovett is the author of five books on Lewis Carroll, as well as numerous articles and reviews. He has served as president of the Lewis Carroll Society of North America, editor of Knight Letter and Lewis Carroll Review, and series editor of The Complete Pamphlets of Lewis Carroll. Drawing largely from items in his own collection, he also curated the 2015 exhibit Alice Live! at the New York Public Library for Performing arts, Lincoln Center. He has been collecting and writing about Lewis Carroll for more than thirty years.
