Diary of a Mad Brownie: 7/11/15

Hi, this is Betsy from Otto’s.  Kids who love to read love books by Bruce Coville.  (Maybe he’s why they love to read!)  His one hundredth and first book for kids just came off the press and it’s another winner!  It’s the first in The Enchanted Files series and it’s called Diary of a Mad Brownie.  Angus is a brownie—no! not  the kind you eat!—he’s an almost foot high creature from the Enchanted Realm who loves to straighten up and neaten human houses.  (He also loves to make mischief.)  He’s assigned to the home of the Carhart family in America.  He has to find his way there from Scotland with the aid of a selkie (another magical creature from the Enchanted Realm).  His main charge is Alex, an eleven year old girl who likes her mess!  In addition to cleaning her room, he has to help her get her assignments in on time and find a way to reverse the curse on her father and brother who both mistakenly think they are poets!!!  This is a perfect way to get your 8 to 12 year old off to a great summer of reading!  Diary of a Mad Brownie—you’ll find it at Otto’s, a booklover’s paradise in the heart of Downtown Williamsport.
