Last Days of Rabbit Hayes: 8/30/2015

Hi this is Betsy from Otto’s.  Anna McPartlin was a stand-up comedian. Now she is a writer of fiction and uses her talent as a stand-up comedian to deal with the darkest of subjects—death from cancer.  Her book, The Last Days of Rabbit Hayes, is the story of an Irish family (only in Ireland can you pull off a combination like this).  This is a family facing the death of their youngest daughter to cancer.  Her Dad refuses to believe her condition is hopeless—he wants her taken out of hospice and put back in the hospital where they can do something for her.  Her Mom is on the trail of a faith healer, and in lieu of that, the parish priest.  Grace, her older sister, takes her anger out on her husband, hitting him with a mug.  And Rabbit turns to her memories to show herself how lucky she has been—just a few more problems to solve—like who is going to finish raising Juliet, her 14 year old daughter.  The Last Days of Rabbit Hayes—a book brimming with life—the good, the bad and the love of family—you’ll find it at Otto’s, a booklover’s paradise in the heart of Downtown Williamsport.
