Lee Y. Miao grew up in a small Pennsylvania town with a fabulous library and studied international relations in college. After working for Time Magazine in New York City and going on to graduate school, she moved to California for a career in international banking. Eventually, she became a writer and editor for grades 6–8 English language arts and social studies projects before pivoting to middle-grade fiction. She lives in the Philadelphia area with her family and a tireless dog.
